Remembering Max
Dear Morikami Park Elementary School Families:
On behalf of the Principal, Renee Elfe and Assistant Principal, Dianne Schreiber, the PTA, all of the staff at Morikami and myself, Cathy Habicht (the Lebrevelec's are very dear friends of ours), we would like to inform all of you Morikami Park Families that we lost one of our dear friends and student, Max Lebrevelec, on Wednesday, September 17, 2008. Max suffered from a rare genetic condition that prevented his body from creating energy, causing organ failure. He received a liver transplant in January of 2007. Max was doing fine the first few months after the transplant but slowly started to decline in the past year and one-half.
Max would have started Third Grade at Morikami this school year but was unable to do so because of his poor health. To know Max was to love him. He touched everybody's heart in a very special way.
Max was a strong little eight-year-old boy but became tired of fighting the battle. Max was granted his final wish of riding in a helicopter on September 17, 2008, the day he passed away which was afforded by the great organization called "The Make A Wish Foundation".
Due to the astronomical medical expenses his family has incurred in the last two years of his illness, we are hoping and praying that our wonderful Morikami families will pull through and donate money to the Max Lebrevelec Foundation with the co-signer being Max' grandmother, Carol Meagher. If you would like to make a donation, you may either drop them off in the school office and make the checks payable to the Morikami Park Elementary PTA or mail them directly to the address as follows:

A lovely memorial to celebrate Max's life was held on Monday, September 22, 2008 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton.
